My musical experience for four decades has had many loves - the first was the drum set and the second was synthesis. For 4 decades I’ve been immersed every type of synthesis imaginable except for Modular. Somehow, in all of the efforts for Ensoniq, Korg and Spectrasonics, I managed to miss this one area discipline.
It wasn’t until a few years ago that I found a “Make Noise Shared System” to right the situation. Immediately addicted to it’s wild ways and constant happy accidents, I recorded hours and hours of creations - none of which can be repeated - that’s the nature of it. Then, inspired by the Daniel Lanois approach to “making music
from faders” technique, I decided to put up 16 of my favorites stereo performances - one under each fader, and proceeded to do passes of live mixing - which is wholly spontaneous and different every time. So fun to do - I couldn’t leave it there :)
I invited Abe Laboriel, Jr. to interpret my crazy audio notions from his powerful drum set. A few hours later, his tracks arrived and the delicious instrumental result is now available to your ears. Basically, this is chocolate and peanut butter in a jar of insanity!
